Who We Are

Camp Janus is a 4 day overnight camp dedicated to serving boys and girls who are grieving the loss of a significant person in their life.

Camp Janus is the only camp in Canada that specifically addresses the needs of bereaved children.

Camp Janus is modelled after the success of Courageous Kids Grief Support Program in Eugene, Oregon, USA. Courageous Kids is modelled from The Dougy Center, The National Bereavement Center in the USA.

We know that grief is a normal response to the death of a loved one, and that children, like adults, experience intense grief following such a loss. However, children grieve differently than do adults. Our camping experience is tailored to meet the specific needs of grieving children and provides them with the tools that aim to strengthen them when they return home from camp.
